Steve works as a senior clinical pharmacist at a large primary care network (PCN) in Bournemouth after spending 25 years working in hospitals. He was appointed consultant pharmacist in Medicine & Medication Safety at University Hospital of South Manchester & The Manchester Pharmacy School in 2007 and had the privilege of working as the Senior Head of Medication Safety & Medical Devices at NHS England for 6 months in 2015.
He has been an independent prescriber for 15 years, working in both medical admission units and the diabetic clinic, has an extensive background in medication safety practice and research, system change and NHS transformation.
He is a fierce advocate for medication safety and now champions the benefits of clinical pharmacists in primary care, in particular the need for de-prescribing in primary care for people with problematic polypharmacy. He also runs his own Medicines Optimisation consultancy company, One less pill Ltd
