Laura Roberts

Director of Skills Development and Participation

The contribution of the wider workforce is fundamental to the NHS & care system.  Through widening participation initiatives & using mechanisms such as apprenticeships, the ambition is to make the workforce reflective of the population it serves.  Laura has worked for HEE since 2013 & is the first national lead for this important area of work. Laura is also the national SRO for Cancer.

Previously, she held three Chief Executive roles at two PCTs and Manchester Mental Health & Social Care Trust.  NHS Manchester was the largest in the northwest and had a reputation for innovation in seeking to tackle deep seated health inequalities.  Throughout her career, Laura has sort to combine a passion for health improvement with strong partnership working & visible leadership.  She has wide NHS experience having worked at primary, community, secondary and in high secure mental health services.  She worked at the DH as Head of Provider Leadership Development, specialising in provider Board and FT governor programmes.
